Sometimes you need to login some apps or web pages, but actually, smart phones are not so convenient at typing. This app can provide you to save some text you use frequently. When you need to fill some forms, you can just easily click copy and paste. Additionally , after click copy , this app will automatically narrow to icon size. It's just easy and quick.

This app is a floating window , you can use it everywhere and anytime even when you are using other apps.

I have many sections for this help document, you can jus copy the title (include the brackets) and press Ctrl + F to search the section.

*** NOTE ***
"History Clip" renamed to "Record Clip" to avoid confusion since v.1.2.2.

[Basic]

[Buttons on window]

The main window looks like this :

  •  A : App icon. Click this icon will show the main menu, see the figure below.
  •  B : Window control bar. Just like your PC, the buttons are hide, maximize(restore),close.
  •  C : Enable/Disable record feature. See the introduction of Record Clip.
  •  D : Four main clips in this app, colored icon is the current using one.
  •  E : Iconify window. See [Iconify v.s. Hide] section.
  •  F : Quick insert. Insert the text in android system clipboard into the clip you are using.
  •  G : Drag to resize the window.
  •  H : Main list. Click an item to copy the text and the window will iconify.
  •  T : Title bar. Drag to move window. And will display the clip name you are using.
After pressing the window icon ( "A" in the picture ), you will see some items in the dropdown menu, you can clear record clip or open app setting:

[Main clips introduction]

Record clip

This clip is NOT to record what you have copied. It's to record (backup) the text in android system clipboard before you copy anything from this app. It means, when you copy anything from this app, it will add the text in android system clipboard into Record Clip first and then copy the text you want.

If you don't want this app to record, you can click the eye icon ( "C" in the picture ) to disable this fearue.

See also : [ FAQ : History Clip not working ? ] section.

Favorite Clip

You can save some strings you want, when you need to input those strings you can find them in this clip, and then just Click to Copy , Paste.

You can manage this clip in app setting.

Alias Clip

This clip is just like Favorite clip, the only different thing is you can set the name for your text.

For example : you can create an item named "My Name" and type the content with "Barack Obama". Then you will see "My Name" on the floating window and when you click this item the text you copied is "Barack Obama".

You can manage this clip in app setting too.

Keyin Clip

In fact, this is not a clip. It just provide you a text input box to type anything you want, and you can click "Copy" button to copy the text you typed.

For example : you are playing a full-screen game on your android and you see a code on the screen but you can't copy it from game. You can just switch to this clip and type the code into the text box ( this app is a floating window right ? ) and click "Copy" to copy this code.

Furture, you can switch to other clip and use quick insert ( "F" in the picture ) to insert into the clip.

[Iconify v.s. Hide]

This app provides two hidden ways : Iconify and Hide.

You can see a blue button on window control bar, this is "hide" button, it will hide this app into your notification bar and click to restore.

The icon at left-bottom corner is "iconify", it will make app window become a small one, you can also drag to move and click to resotre.

In this app, the main window will "iconify" after you copied something from it. Because in this way you don't have to pull down the notification bar to restore FloatClipboard.

[Setting]

You can launch app setting from the dropdown menu ( "A" in the picture ) :

In app setting, you can manage Favorite Clip and Alias Clip from the button on the top, choose what clip will show up when you launch FloatClipboard, decide the maximum count to record ( 1~20 ) and select language ( System default , force in English , force in Chinese traditional).

Click the "question" icon will show the credits and licenses.

When you manage Favorite Clip and Alias Clip , you can modify exist item by one click and long-press to delete the item.

And when you manage Alias Clip, you can mask the content from menu :

And please note that : DO NOT launch Floating Clipboard ( I mean the floating window ) when you running this app setting.

After setting when you click "Save" or "Cancel" button , the floating window will automatically show up ( but it won't show up if you press the "back" button on your phone/tablet ).

For Android 2.x it will delay 0.8 ~ 1 second and 0.2 second for Android 3.x~4.x.
If the floating window didn't show up automaticall, please do it yoursel :) .

[Share Text]

From v1.2, you can share text via Floating Clipboard.

Remember enter some text at "Alias : " column if you'd like to share to Alias Clip.

[The support of Sony SmallApp]

In fact, I made MultiClipboard for SmallApp for this "Clipboard" idea at first.
But it only support some Sony Xperia devices. So I decide to make this one for more people can use this kind of app. But Sony SmallApp Dock is a great quick launch bar , so I also made quick launch icon from Sony SmallApp Dock.

If you didn't see it , just click the "+" and select FloatClipboard :

※ NOTE ※
This app is NOT Sony SmallApp, I just create an empty SmallApp to launch my floating window, so sometime you may see a empty small app window show up and then disappear.

And I can NOT try this on all Xperia devices, so if you have problem on launch this app from SmallApp Dock, please tell me via E-Mail and give me your device name and firmware code.

And for older Xperia device ,such as Android 4.0 Xperia TX can not launch
from SmallApp Dock will FC, but if you are rooted you can solve this problem.

[FAQ & Known bugs]

[Known bugs]
  1. In some older android device, sometimes click iconified window will not restore the app.
  2. Sometimes click this app's shortcut will FC when Floating clipboard is running. Or sometimes app will FC when launching. This bug I'm still trying to figure why it will happen.

[ FAQ : History Clip not working ? ]

For android system , only API Level 11+ ( known as Android 3.0 ) can set Clipboard listener to listen clipborad event. ( e.g.: when clipborad data changed ). Before android 3.0 ,it may have to check clipboard frequently ( e.g. :check every 3~5 sec. ).

But in fact ,even though on Android 3.0+, clipboard listening only take effect when this app is running. So for power saving issue, I decide to give up this feature. But maybe I will implement in later version.

To avoid this confusion I've renamed "History"  to "Record".
